Radiant Orchid Beauty Ideas: Nails

As most of us know, 2014 is the year for Radiant Orchid. A bright, pinkish purple color, with a lot of play room to go along with it. It doesn't have to be pinkish purple. It can be a bright purple or a deeper purple as long as there's some pinkish purple tones to it. I put together a fabulous list for this and I hope that you enjoy it! I am not saying go out and buy a bunch of Orchid/purple colors. More than likely you already have some in your stash, so it won't be too hard to get the color of the year. But, hey, if you want to go get some, by all means, go get some. Sephora is a great place to start, since they have pallets dedicated to this year's color of the year, Radiant Orchid. Another place, once you have an idea of what you are wanting is ULTA. They carry high-end brands and drugstore brands, so this would be another place to check out colors for yourself.

Let's start with nails. We all love doing our nails, so of course, I had to pick up some Radiant Orchid colors for them! I've narrowed it down to a few that I feel you would agree with me on they're being perfect to use.

First up is Nails Inc. in Devonshire Row. While this polish is more on the purplely side, it does have some pink in it. It goes on smoothly and it wore for over a week on me. I love the consistency of it. After two coats, I was done. But be sure that between coats, you let each coat dry completely.

Next we have Fing'rs Heart 2 Art polish in Bent Out of Grape. This is more on the pinker side of the Orchid color scheme, but it is without a doubt an Orchid color. This is definetely a color that you want a top coat for or it will be matte. If you are still liking the matte scheme, then this brand is a great one for you. In two coats, I had am opaque color that was beautiful. It does chip easily w/o a top coat, so be sure to use it.

Sally Hansen. Can't live with it sometimes and you most definetely can't live without it. I have 3 colors in my stash that reminded me of Radiant Orchid. 170, Deep Purple, is on the WAY darker side of the Radiant Orchid spectrum, but upon closer look, it has a light sheen of pink to it too. This color just made me think of an elegant Orchid scheme to it. Sophisticated, mysterious and wonderful. Wears well and I find adding a top coat makes it lasts longer. Next, I have 230, Pep-Plum. This is a pinkish purple that is fun. This is a color that is more for a summertime experience. I have a couple others along those same line, but will get to those in a second. Lastly, I have 445 Violet Voltage. Depending on light, it can either be purple or Orchid. This is great for a classical look if you are just wanting something for everyday wear. Again with these polishes, be sure to wear a top coat with them.

Orly is a more expensive brand than Sally Hansen's that's for sure, but the quality is amazing! I have Orly's Purple Crush and when I unpacked from moving, I knew I would be wearing this color this summer. It's bright pink/purple is something that reminds me of the beach. Something that I would wear out dancing on a hot summer night with my girlfriends. Something that gets noticed. This is around 9 dollars but a lot of times, you can get great deals on the brand and get it for much cheaper.

Covergirl Outlast is an iconic brand. The color ranges that Covergirl has now is pretty impressive. I found Purple Freeze this last winter and fell in love with it. It's muted, almost pastel color of purple is a great Orchid color combination for those lazy days where you want to look fabulous, but don't want to put a ton of effort into your nails. After two coats, I was done and out the door. I don't know if it's in their permanent line, but I hope it is because I don't think my little Glosstinis is going to make it much longer, lol.

I have a brand I never heard of, but found it at Rite Aid, and I love how well they apply and wear. Bonita Salon polish. I got Peonies Gone Wild, which is an almost neon orchid color! Another daring shade that I would have a blast wearing dancing, but I use it for my toes since I never have time to let my toes dry completely with other polishes running after a 2 year old! This dries quickly and a little shimmer and my day is set with wonderful looking toes.

A bargain brand, if I say so myself, but a great brand never the less is Wet N' Wild. We all know the brand and we all know the price range of it. I have two great colors for you! One is from the Spring line, but I believe you can find it in their regular line too. First up is my WildShine in 34349 Deception. This is right up there with my Sally Hansen's Pep-Plum and my Orly's Purple Crush! A bright, wonderful color that is great for those Summer evenings around the campfire. Price doesn't hurt either at .99!

Lastly I have my Wet N'Wild Megalast polish. This is from the spring line, but I also believe it's part of the permanent line also. It's......drumroll please...........34360 Candid Affair! This is a way muted purple/pink that is so elegant and sophisticated that you can wear it in the office and people will still notice! No dress code breaking here, Candid Affair will be a color that people will want to have themselves and will assume it's from a higher end polish! At $1.99, you can't beat the price and the elegance of it. Go ahead, give it a try and have an affair with something different than your regular polish!
